Oxford

OXFORD – Sherri Lyn (Brown) Peterson, 67, died in her home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, due to complication from IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis), which she battled courageously for over two years.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alfred “Pete” E. Peterson; two children, Karl M. Peterson and his wife Bridget of Worcester, and Melissa A. Somers and her husband Richard of North Grosvenordale, CT whom she recently came to live with; seven siblings, Karen Cuthbertson, David Brown, Andrea Perrin, Wendy Halal, Christine Solomon Esposito, John Solomon, and Derek Solomon; three grandchildren, Shane Somers, Pandorah Peterson, and Coletin Rumrill; her honorary sister, Fran Peterson of Worcester; her forever friend, Cindy Welch of Worcester; and many very loved nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by five siblings, Duane “Ricky” Brown, Marsha Bombard, Mary Ellen FitzGerald, Elaine Solomon and Jacqueline Bastille; and a granddaughter, Amber Racicot.  She was born in Milo, Maine, daughter of the late Mary Clara (Byther) Thorpe, and lived most of her life in Worcester and Oxford. She graduated from North High School in Worcester in 1975.

Sherri was a certified nursing assistant at the St. Francis Nursing Home in Worcester where she cared deeply for the residents at the facility for many years. Prior to her retirement she was a unit secretary at the Life Care Center of Auburn.

Sherri and the love of her life Pete retired to their home in Wells, ME. While there, she enjoyed craft fairs, yard sales, Hallmark movies, and spending time at the beach.  Sherri was an avid reader and loved to play scrabble. Family meant everything to her, and she will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and Grammy who would do anything for her grandchildren, who she loved with all she was.

Sherri will be on an infinite “Girls Weekend” with the Sista, enjoying a nice glass of Pinot Grigio while waiting for Peter to join her.

We would like to thank the Day Kimball hospice team for their amazing care of Sherri and the support of our family during the past few weeks.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Call Michelle Charity, 210 Park Avenue, P.O. Box 273, Worcester, MA 01609, or at callmichellecharity.org .

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
