OXFORD – Stephen Perry, 70, of Cape Coral, Florida, and formerly of Oxford, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 5, 2021, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by five daughters, Patricia M. Beauchesne and her husband Christopher of Dudley, Jodie A. Prokopowich and her husband David of Leicester, Amy M. Perry of North Grosvenordale, CT, Stephanie A. Perry and her longtime partner Jason Clark of Cape Coral, FL, and Katherine E. Perry of Danielson, CT; his brother, Arthur H. Perry Jr. and his wife Maryann of Charlton; two sisters, Deborah P. Mancini of Putnam, CT, and Sharon L. Lapierre and her husband Bernard Sr. of Thompson, CT; his former wife, Lori A. Perry of Northboro; Merrie Chartier of Putnam, CT, who was like a sister to him; thirteen grandchildren, Kendrick, Kaevon, Latrell, Xavier, Nathaniel, Dominic, Michael, Danielle, Hunter, Kaia, Ella, Ava, and Zachariah; a great-grandson, Kamdyn; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen J. Perry who died in 1978. He was born in Webster, son of the late Arthur H. Perry Sr. and Beatrice C. Perry-Powers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Perry was a correction officer at the Connecticut Department of Corrections for 21 years, working mostly at the Carl Robinson Correctional Institute in Enfield. Previously he worked at Sweet Life Foods, and was an accomplished carpenter throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes. Most important in his life was his family. He had close relationships with his siblings and adored his children and grandchildren most of all. He centered his retirement around his grandchildren and will be remembered as a loving grandfather.
A military graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at St. Roch’s Cemetery, Federal Hill Rd., Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, July 9, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
