Todd Dickie

Born into Life February 21, 1967 ~ Entered into Eternal Life January 30, 2021

WORCESTER - Todd A. Dickie, 53, of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 from complications due to COVID-19. Todd is survived by his best friend and wife of 28 years, Jane M. Shivick, his loving daughter, Megan Elizabeth Dickie, his parents, Roger and Nancy (Burtt) Dickie, his brother Marc Dickie and his wife Celeste Dickie of East Greenbush, NY, nephews, David Dickie and Thomas F. Shivick, III, and nieces Elizabeth Dickie, Erin Washburn, Danielle Dickie, and Grace Shivick.

Todd was born and raised in Worcester where he attended Holy Name Central Catholic High School (now Saint Paul Diocesan Jr./Sr. High School). He went on to receive a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Norwich University, the oldest private military college in the United States, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College.

As a worker in the human services field, Todd worked for over 30 years as an advocate for the youth of Central MA as a supervisor for The Key Program, a Residential Advisor/Overnight Supervisor for Grafton Job Corps, and house manager for Lutheran Child and Family Services of Worcester, MA. Todd previously served as a Unit Director and eventually the Residential Director with the Stetson School an Affiliate of the Seven Hills Foundation. He was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President for Operations at the Stetson School where he oversaw the operations side which included operational functions such as licensing, staffing, milieu management, food service and maintenance. He also worked directly with state officials, families, and of course employees. Todd was particularly adept at training development and leadership mentoring.

Todd’s love of music, specifically his Scottish heritage, brought him much joy. He was no stranger to the theatre/stage and was known for his depictions of Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Miles Gloriosos in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Nicely-Nicely in Guys and Dolls, and Alfred Doolittle in My Fair Lady, to name a few. Todd was a member of the Assumption College 10AM & Festival Choirs for many years and most recently became a member of the Auburn Greater Community Chorus. Todd dated his wife, Jane, a nationally-recognized operatic soprano, when they were both students at Holy Name High School. They not only played varsity sports together, but, eventually performed opposite one another on stage for many years before their marriage in 1993.

A fierce competitor on the football field, Todd was active most of his life in the Worcester Youth Football program. One of the proudest days of his life was when, as a high school student, he received the prestigious John Hannah Award at the New England Patriots Summer Training Camp from the Patriot’s Hall of Famer himself. Continually recognized for his abilities as an offensive and defensive lineman in the Central MA area, Norwich University recruited Todd. During his time at Norwich, Todd was also a member of the rugby team where he thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of his team. He sang with the Norwich University Glee Club and became the cymbalist for the Norwich University Regimental Band Company performing at the Inauguration of President George H. W. Bush.

Todd was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Worcester, and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. His quick wit, love for crossword puzzles, travel, the outdoors, American and European military history, New England and college sports teams alike, his alma mater, Norwich University ("The Wick"), and the pride he took in creating a beautiful home with his wife and daughter, made him a joy to be around. Todd was a gentle giant who had this incredible ability to say very little all the while having a huge impact on those around him.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 11th from 4:00-8:00pm in the main nave at The Cathedral of Saint Paul, 38 High Street in Worcester and will close with a prayer service at 7:30pm. His Liturgy of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be on Friday, February 12th at 10:00am. Interment will be at Saint John’s Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford.
