William Carlsen

OXFORD - William “Bill” Carlsen, 67, died peacefully at his home in Cape Coral, FL on Tuesday September 20, 2022, due to complications of Scleroderma, surrounded by his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doreen (Christenson) Carlsen; his two children, Matthew Carlsen and his wife Amy, and Courtney Gentry and her husband Tom; his seven grandchildren, Mykenzie and her significant other Zach, Jace, James, Colton, Andyn, TJ, and Kegan; his siblings, Robert Carlsen and partner John, Tommy Carlsen and his wife Sue, and Laurie Andrews; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Dagny (Holm) Carlsen; and his brother, Ricky Carlsen. He was born in Worcester in 1955 and was raised in Oxford, where he graduated from Oxford High School in 1973. Bill worked at Automatic Rolls of New England, in Auburn as a transportation manager before retirement.

Bill was a wonderful man who cared deeply for his family and friends.  He was active throughout his life, participating in many sports and riding in the Pan Mass Challenge in 1998 and 1999.  He had a passion for sports; Bill played football, basketball and baseball throughout high school and was the first recipient of the Stephen Snider Award, given to the best overall athlete. His love for sports translated to coaching which included minor and little league baseball and assistant football coach at Bay Path in Charlton.  He was an avid fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots

Bill and his family would like to thank his care teams at both Reliant Medical in Worcester, and Hope Hospice Care in Cape Coral, FL.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will be private at a later date at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
